Kindle Fire not recognized as a drive by Macbook Air (needed to transfer ebooks to kindle via Calibre)

Hi all,

I have recently received a new Macbook Air. I am trying to transfer my kindle books via a USB cord and the kindle fire is not recognized as a drive by my new mac air. This is a problem as I like to organize my books using Calibre. I have previously transferred books using my very old 2012 macbook pro using Calibre. All devices are updated and running current system versions.

I can connect using the Android File Transfer app, but would really like to use Calibre for ebook management and Android File Transfer is not preferred. So getting it recognized as a "drive" is the only solution.

I have checked the cords and the ports and my kindle paperwhite connects just fine, as a drive and to Calibre, but not my kids' kindle fires.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help!!
