Music player on lock screen, the Notifications fix does *not* resolve this

This is a repost, I am unable to bump up my prior question where I received what I believe is incorrect information. Music player on lock screen, the Notifica… - Apple Community. Since originally posting this it has become a constant thing, I am unable to ever remove the music player from the Lock Screen.

I always have the music player pop up on my lock screen which is rather annoying since I never use my phone for music. It’s not running in the background that I can tell, and now it happens consistently. (It was intermittent before.) I’ve done the notifications fix you find here in multiple threads several times and cold rebooted after each time, but it always comes back. (Settings > Notifications > Music, Allow Notifications off.)

Does anyone have other ideas? I believe this started happening on my new iPhone 13 Pro day one, it never happened on my old iPhone 7. Could this be an interaction with my iPad or Apple Watch?

This is new behavior.

iPhone 13 Pro 15.3.1, Apple Watch SE 8.4.1, iPad 9G 15.3

That was a great lead - it wasn’t it, but it got me to the point where I can reproduce it at will. As someone who does software testing, that’s a huge step.

I wear my AirPods most of the day for phone calls. If there are no AirPods connected, no music player on the Lock Screen. If AirPods are connected, I get the music player.

I can understand why they configured things this way, but it would still be nice if that behavior could be controlled. I’ll put in a suggestion.

Thank you!
