If you start a migration, can you interrupt it if you run out of time?

If you start a migration from a MacBook to a new Macbook using Migration Assistant, can you interrupt it if you run out of time during that session?

Yes, but you can also safely walk away and let it continue unattended.

If it's taking an extremely long time to finish, such as often happens when using WiFi, you can certainly halt it. But if you do that, you need to continue with a wired connection so as to re-do the process.

I prefer to Migrate from a TimeMachine, or Carbon Copy Cloner, backup on the same LAN or hardwired. That's one reason backups exist. If you're not making them, you should start immediately.
