MacBook Pro 2020 Monterey 12.2.1 and external LG UltraFine 27inch no brightness change possible

hi,

I want just to inform all if somebody has the idea to upgrade to MacOs Monterey with an external Display from LG Ultrafine , the brightness config from not available anymore....

(LG Ultrafine was the replacement from apple because they stopped working on displays)

sometimes I'm wondering how apple could got so big... quality and long term support is not the strength

Apple KNOWs this already but nobody can tell when a fix would / will be available (or they will do it at all)

another thing the support meant I should check LG for an UPDATE LOL the app is not working correctly anymore on Monterey; the LG has no config buttons.. and and and

Disappointing, the third time now they have this problem to configure the external monitor (last time it was only they could not remember the state, was fixe in one update)

now the screen is glowing

again DON'T UPDATE to Mac OS Monterey 12.2.1 if you have an EXTERNAL LG Ultrafine ! (I will write here if its fixed or I get the info if not...)

br horst

PS: stepping back is no OPTION the mail db has been updated and the idea of support to resync all mails (because the Mail DB was updated) yes if I would have 1 mail box on an imap account, but it's the company's Mac with 8 accounts and I don't know how many mails...

LOL this is a fix after a Crash "Intel CrashLog recorded due to unexpected reset" which happens now again every few days it seems a new driver has been loaded, I'm not sure if was the lg screen manager app I installed

but it again recognises the brightness

jepii  also the LG Screen app can now update the LG monitor (I'm not sure if a good idea but I will try, the guys from support said I should do that...)

LG Screen manager in the App Store now also with support M1 chip Mac

we are near to the microsoft "heaven" the opposite word is bad and will be banned... install / restart / nearly works.. again update search for drivers and and and..

PS the update from my LG Ultrafine something like ... 3.01, 1.11,  ends in

NO NO NO I'm such an idiot  the update remove the brightness again ,

BUT another restart showed it again

hmm next test

Closing the lid and opening again removes the config this bug was already in Big Sur the same..

Which results in:

  • update of LG Monitor has no effect (only the recognition of the monitor on connect "seems" for me slower, but this could be also personal feeling )/ LG Screen Manager (you can't find out which firmware you have or which monitor model, you have to remove the stand beyond it there is the model number mine is a 27MD5KA-B software version I have only seen short before the update via LG Screen Manager)
  • restarting of Mac you can configure it once
  • business as usual, closing lid / reopening removes the config of brightness again ...

I could cry
