Image thumbnails not displaying in Finder

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports)

2.3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5

8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3

Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 1536 MB

Since installing the latest update OS: 12.2.1 Monterey, my JPEG, JPG and PNG images only show as a generic icon, no Thumbnail previews. Some images are not affected, but I cannot find a common factor - e.g. age of file - to explain why.

I have checked that Finder > View is set oto View as Icons

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.2

Finder icon view doesn't show image thumbnail

open View options on Desktop and increased the size of the icon to max and decreased it and then they show up.

Same for Finder, increase size to max and decrease.
