My computer attempted to update OS last night (to Big Sur) and now my computer is running dead slow. Late 2012 iMac. Could there be something running in the background and how would I find that? OS is 10.15.7

iMac 27″, macOS 10.15

Yes it is Catalina.


Sorry, I may have misunderstood the situation and am sorry for that.


Though since your question was posted in Big Sur Forums and some people mix update for upgrade - you were attemping the upGrade from Catalina to Big Sur which this computer does not qualify to run.


If above is correct suggest restarting in Safe Mode and then restart in normal mode


Sometimes this will just put thing right.
