Apple Watch pairing

I’m trying to pair a gen 3 Apple Watch. I bought it at a pawnshop. Without the Apple ID this thing is a paperweight right? I’ve tried resetting again and again.

Pairing used Apple Watch to new owner I recently upgraded my Apple Watch 3 to the Apple Watch 5. I did a reset on the 3 and gsve to my nephew for him to pair to his iPhone. He is unsuccessful in pairing. He keeps getting error that the Watch is under my Apple ID. What are we doing wrong ?

Return it and get your money back,only the original owner can remove the activation lock.

As you correctly point out,it is a paperweight.
