How to Setup Apple Watch Outdoor Walk feedback announced on headphones connected to iPhone

I am a new user of an Apple Watch (AW-7) Version 7... I have started on an outdoor walking program of between 3 and 4 kilometers per day... While walking I listen to audiobooks hosted on my iPhone 8 through headphones connected to the iPhone. I would like to hear workout feedback (kilometers walked, pace, etc) through the same headphones... The way I see it, there are 2 options:

Option 1: Connect Headphones to iPhone... Connect AW-7 to iPhone... Play AW-7 feedback through iPhone... The Bluetooth path is Apple Watch --> iPhone --> Headphones...

Option 2: Connect Headphones to Apple Watch... Connect iPhone to AW-7... Play iPhone hosted Audiobook through AW-7... The Bluetooth path is iPhone --> Apple Watch --> Headphones...

I suspect that Option 2 will use more battery power...

I have not had any success setting up either option... If someone knows how to setup either and can help me with instructions, I would very much appreciate the help... Thanks in Advance...

Hey there, jlopilato.

There is a feature built into watchOS 8 that allows you to get Voice Feedback for your currently active workouts, and that might be able to do what you're wanting.

Check your progress: Raise your wrist to see your workout stats, including your goal completion ring, elapsed time, average pace, distance covered, calories consumed, and heart rate. (There’s no goal ring if you haven’t set a goal.) In watchOS 8, you can hear metrics like pace, speed, time elapsed, pause, resume, and progress against activity rings and goals. To turn Voice Feedback on or off, open the Settings app  on your Apple Watch, tap Workouts, then tap Voice Feedback.

This information is located in the "Adjust Apple Watch during a workout" section of Start a workout on Apple Watch.

If you're wanting to receive more updates than are available with Voice Feedback, be sure to leave Product Feedback here and detail your requests.

Take care.
