Why won't faceTime audio play through my HDMI connected speakers?

When I use FaceTime the audio comes out of my Mac Mini M1 speaker instead of the HDMI connected monitor speakers. I am running OS 11.6.4. I have the Output Audio in the FaceTime app set to Use System Setting. The Music app plays through the HDMI speakers just fine. This is not new btw. It has been happening through several OS releases.

Facetime will not use the midi multi output device setting for internal speakers and headset I have setup a midi multi output device with internal speakers and a headset. But Facetime doesn't want to output to both the internal speakers and headset. It's one or the other. This configuration works fine with Skype. Is there another setting in FaceTime that has to be setup? iMac 27inch 2017 with mac OS Monterey 12.6. I have a tried this on a Ventura OS and it doesn't work there either. I have different headsets in the multi output setup and that doesn't work. Any ideas? Or is this just broken in the Mac OS to FaceTime interface?

FaceTime Audio still not working with external speakers... This is a 6 month issue: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252151663. Acknowledged by Apple now, but not addressed in even the most recent update to 11.3.1. It's simple - despite all settings set correctly, M1 Mac mini and laptops will not use external speakers during FaceTime with success. Only an audio output issue, and only a FaceTime issue; no other application has difficulties. As far as the last several complaints on the above link suggest, limited to M1 architecture machines, but not a priority for Apple to FIX. That's why I've recreated this post to see if there is still a ground-swell of support asking Apple to fix the known issue - it's getting really OLD! -Mark

Tried Factime this morning with OS updated to 12.2.1and it seems to have fixed the problem
