Ive just got a new m1 macbook pro, I have a usb c to a adapter but the devices connected to my hub arent working, not power on sign of a connection with it? Do these adapters work with usb-A hubs or do i have to buy a new one?

If the adapter is a simple passthrough, your problem is likely the hub.
Connect the devices directly to the Mac using only the hub to see if the adapter is the problem. If it's not, suspect the hub is either broken or incompatible. Some hubs are just not compatible with the latest Mac OS.

I can’t attach the hub directly to the macbook so I’ve used the adapter for this. The adapter is a usb-a and the new MacBooks only have c.
I’ve ordered a usb-c hub so hopefully that works out
Most USB hubs use a USB-B connector when connecting to a computer. The USB-A ports on a hub are for connecting devices to the hub.
