I am unable to pair my MacBook with AppleTV

AppleTV 4K with latest OS does not show my MacBook Pro M1 as a bluetooth device. Why did this stop working? Is there any fix?

It won’t pair over bluetooth, as both are bluetooth host devices, not bluetooth accessories.

The notebook can pair for the network connection, though. Pair your iOS device or Mac with your Apple TV - Apple Support

You do not need to pair in order to use AirPlay, though. For Macs, pairing with Apple TV is more for Xcode (app developers).

Thanks for the reply, but it USED to work prior to OS 12 as it allowed a MacBook to act as a bluetooth accessory device. The app KeyPad used to allow this as did CiderTV. This allowed a MacBook to be used as a bluetooth keyboard and remote for AppleTV.

Casting is a fraction of the quality. I can't believe there is no longer a way to control an AppleTV from a MacBook. It can be done from iPhone and iPad, but not MacBook.

I'm trying to determine 1) why this change and 2) when will it be fixed

Per the support site:

Thanks
