Hi,

Any 2.5" or 3.5" which can physically connect to your iMac (probably a USB 3 model).

Any USB drive. I would opt for a SSD over a HDD for speed and reliability.

I was looking at the LaCie, but what triggered my question was the compatibility with Time Machine? Is my OS too outdated?
