Deal when upgrading your iphone

I heard a friend of mine went to the Apple store to upgrade his iPhone 12 Pro Max for the 13 and he only paid 100 dlls. He stated there’s a deal at Apple stores right now that you bring any iPhone and you only pay 100 dlls or a certain amount to upgrade to the 13 or any other you want. Is that true or did he misunderstood the Apple sales person that helped him that day?

There are several options:


  • Some carriers are offering “free” phones if you sign up with them for a long term contract. This means that your phone will be locked to that carrier. If you are sure you don’t want to change carriers for 2 years these are great deals.
  • You can also trade in your current phone for an allowance against a new phone, but it is a relatively small allowance.
  • If you have an Apple Card you can buy an unlocked phone and pay for by installments for 2 years at zero interest, and also get 3% cash back from Apple.


You can combine the trade-in with either the carrier or the Apple Card option.
