Wait, since this is a 2015 mac: did you do the usual reset the NVRAM and SMC?

We probably should have started there, given the weirdness of not acknowledging the trackpad.

To reset NVRAM, start your while pressing and HOLDING the four keys: Command, Option, P and R. Keep holding until you hear the chime some 4 times, then release the keys.

You did not say which mac you have. I am guessing that it is not a laptop - otherwise, your system is seriously messed up.

What is your pointing device? A "Magic Mouse"? Then look in System Preferences->Mouse

That's weird. I take it that the trackpad is actually working, right?

Try restarting in Safe Mode. Any difference?

Did you migrate anything after the install?
