How do I turn off private browsing on my iPad 10.5 inch WIFI with software version 14.8.1?

How do I turn off private browsing on my iPad 14.8.1? I have followed the instructions to press and hold the icon that looks like 2 pages or windows on the top far right of my screen, but all it gives me is the option for a new private tab or to open a new private window? I want to completely close Safari Private Browsing and be able to go back to using regular non private windows on Safari. Thanks for your help and quick reply.

One quick way is to go to: Settings>>Safari>>on the right side scroll done and tap on Clear History and Website Data. The private browsing will be off.

Another way is to click/tap on the rectangle in the upper left-hand corner of this page. Click on Start Page. You will leave private browsing. Private Browsing is listed below it.

Another way is to click/tap on the four squares within a square in the top right-hand corner of this page. Next Click/tap on Private and choose Start Page.

Thanks for the quick reply. Its not clear to me when you suggest in your reply : "click /tap on the upper left hand corner of this page" -or " click/tap on the four squares within a square in the top right-hand corner of this page". What page are you referring to? is it a page on my iPad or on this community's page? Also if I clear History and Website Data, does that remove all my History and Website Data on all my searches and pages I visit a lot on my non-private browsing on Safari on my iPad?

Thank you for your help getting this done.

Page is your Safari browser. By page I was trying to show you-while reading my reply- to look in the right hand top corner or the top left hand corner of the Safari browser.

When I clear History and Website Data, it clears the current one that I am on. So the current history and searches are gone and the Start Page-non-private browser will appear. I would save those searches and pages you visit in either favorites or bookmarks so you can use them in the non-private browser called the start page.

Let me know if this is confusing!

On my iPad Safari page , there is not a rectangle on the top left of the Safari page , nor is there four squares within a square in the top right-hand corner of the page. If I could send an image of what my iPad Safari screen looks like, I would do that. ;looking from left to right at top of my Safari browser page on my iPad, there is < > and on the top right there is the rectangle with an arrow pointing up then + then a symbol that looks like two rectangles on top of each other . Thats all there is ...

Looking around at other support posts, it looks like others have the same issue... seems Apple should put something simple like " Close Private Browsing" easily accessible. I'll keep trying, ....
