macOS TV app won't let me remove downloads

I've found that the macOS TV app won't let me remove the downloads for some of the TV shows and movies I have. I do NOT want to delete them from my library, just remove the downloads.

For most of the stuff, it will indeed let me remove the downloaded copies, but still keep the programs in my library. But there are a few episodes and movies where 'Remove download' isn't an option.

Why is this? And how can I get around it?

iMac 27″, macOS 11.6

Babaganoosh,

Let's see if the info included here helps:

"Delete items in the Apple TV app

  1. Open the Apple TV app.
  2. Tap or click Library.
  3. To delete an item from your Mac, hover your pointer over the item, click the More options button , then click Remove Download.
  4. To delete an item on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, tap Downloaded, swipe left on the item, tap Delete, then Delete Download."

This was found in Delete music, films and TV shows from your device. You'd want to see if this allows you to remove the download only and will resolve this issue. You also might want to check out the section "If you can't delete your films or TV shows" as it gives you the exact reasons why you might not be able to remove the downloads.

All the best.
