Delay in Video displayed

Latest OS

All streaming apps have sound starting before picture. Nothing is out of sync when both are present, but just a little quirk I noticed on this latest incremental release.

Anyone else ?

Happens on all streaming apps and with home sharing the pause is delayed too.

Hello Airsculpture,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. This may be a connection issue, or could be that the Apple TV may need a few things to happen.

First, let's restart the Apple TV.

Restart Apple TV - Apple Support

"Do any of the following:

  • Press and hold both the Back Back button (second-generation Siri Remote) or Menu button (first-generation Siri Remote) and TV  TV button buttons on the Siri Remote until the Apple TV status light blinks rapidly.
  • Disconnect Apple TV from the power outlet, wait five seconds, then reconnect it.
  • Open Settings Settings on Apple TV, go to System and select Restart."

Restarting will give your device a fresh start, and could resolve the issue. Also, have you tested this on another Wi-Fi network, or another band on same network?

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Go to network
  3. Tap Wi-Fi at the top
  4. Choose a different band if applicable.

For example, if you have a 2.4 and a 5ghz band, choose the one you aren't currently using and see if the connection is better, and stops the lag.

If that doesn't help, please let us know and we'll take a look at other options.

Cheers!

I have a similar issue, on all streaming, you tube, sling tv, etc the video starts but the audio delays for a couple of seconds. It's not our internet service, we have extremely fast broad band over ethernet. It started a couple of Monterey updates ago. This is on new MBP with Apple silicon. It's almost like the audio is needing to buffer or something like that before commencing playback. Also there's not a latency problem either, meaning the audio and video are in good sync, you don't get mouth movements not matching words. It's not a huge problem but it is a bit annoying.
