Water Spillage on Macbook Air - What To Do

What's the best course of action when you spill water on your closed Macbook? I have a 2020 Air and accidentally spilled quarter glass of drinking water on top of the closed lid. I picked it up, wiped it dry thoroughly and it's working just fine. I restarted the Macbook Air, and all seems to be good. I don't think water had the chance to sip inside as I picked it up instantly.

I think I might have dodged a bullet. What do you others should do who are not so lucky?
