Something went wrong: error message

This relates to Numbers on iCloud.

I have several spreadsheets that are shared on iCloud that our team accesses daily. Over the past week I have had intermittent success in getting them to actually open up. Other team members have the same issue.

Can someone please provide a solution to this?

Assuming that you have already tried the usual troubleshooting, such as restarting your Macs and turning sharing off and then back one again, this may be beyond the scope of help that your fellow users can provide in this user-to-user forum.

After trying those things you may need to contact Apple Support.

Ran all software updates on Safari and Catalina. Restarted. Created a temporary new admin user and logged into the Mac that way. Logged into my iCloud account in Safari. Cannot create a new Numbers spreadsheet. Same error.

It's sounding more like a glitch on the server-side of my iCloud account.

Perhaps Apple would need to investigate that end of this issue. (I do have an active case about this with them).

Yes it sounds like something iCloud related, assuming you are able to create a new Numbers document and store it in a folder outside iCloud Drive.

Just to eliminate another possibility, have you tried turning sharing off on a document that you have shared (assuming you can get it open)?

Numbers in iCloud allows me to start a blank spreadsheet, but before it opens up the same error message shows up.

I cannot open up other documents to try and turn off the collaboration.

I can download them all to my local Mac Pro (which I've done) and work on them..but I obviously lose the prime function I am seeking: collaboration with my team.

Apple, can you help?

I'm having this issue too. Windows user. Same deal - tried three different browsers, clearing cache, updating windows.

No files will open.

Eroror is:

I seriously hate icloud heh. I have to use it as my company for some reason makes sales proposals in pages for Macs. I can't even use the Windows app because I don't have an Apple device which makes no sense.

No idea how to fix it.

How do we even escalate this to Apple? I'm a Windows user primarily.

The same thing occurred for me - issues came and went for the last few days but as of today now every file is unusable. Tried multiple devices now too.

Does anyone know of any other program that can open .numbers files?

Same here. From two days ago, I can't work with Pages, Numbers, Keynote at icloud.com. I have tried different browsers and computers and always got same error from existing documents or blank ones.

Really annoying.

Same as you, primarily a Windows user. I do have an iPad but the issue is not with that so I don't know how to get Apple support to help here, sorry. It's very frustrating
