Stolen iPad covered by AppleCare Plus?

Hi, my ipad was recently stolen and find my device was turned off, I have a police report and a crime reference number, but if find my device is turned off is there any way that the theft will be covered by applecare plus?

As babowa pointed out, and I missed entirely, theft and loss is only for the iPhone and you must have Find My turned on.
