If I have a docking station, is there a way to send audio from the Macbook Air to the monitor? Or is the only recourse using the headphone jack in the docking station?

I have connected my MacBook air to a docking station to a 2nd monitor. How do I get audio from the MacBook Air to the 2nd monitor? Is the headphone jack in the docking station the only recourse?
