The Magic Keyboard is considerably more expensive - and offers a “floating” cantilever design - whereas the Smart Keyboard is a perhaps more conventional folio design. Both rely upon the iPad’s Smart Connector situated on the rear of the iPad - and both attach magnetically to the iPad.

The Magic Keyboard is heavier when compared to Smart Keyboard Folio and iPad Air weighs almost as much as the MacBook Air. The new keyboard’s 12.9-inch version is around 25% heavier than the 12.9-inch version of the Smart Keyboard.
