won't go past adding verification phone number

Trying to set up an apple ID for my 11 year old

I go through all the steps but when I get to the screen asking me to add a phone number for verification it won't let me go any further. I enter the phone number and hit NEXT but the screen won't move on

Verification code not accepted when creating child apple id I'm trying to create a child apple ID on a factory reset iPad. I get to the step where I need to enter a verification code. I get the code notification on my iPhone which is a 6 digit code. I put that code in and it's not accepted. A red arrow appears to the right of the input code when I select the next button. I've resent the code several times and each time I input the new code. Each time it's not accepted. One thing I notice is that the next button lights up as soon as I type in 4 digits. So maybe I'm entering the wrong code?

Not receiving verification text code for setting up Apple ID hi I’m trying to set up an Apple ID for my son on his iPad. We haven’t received the verification code yet. Any ideas? Thanks
