Although 87% capacity isn't bad, a 5½ year-old battery is inevitably weak due to age & use – likely causing the battery to quickly discharge.

We see many similar cases in these communities in which the weak batteries of older model iPhones are exposed following a lengthy iOS update.

You can find out definitively whether yours is yet another such case by having the battery replaced. And then, even if the problem persists, you'll have a strong, new battery ready to work well with the hypothetical new "firmware" when it arrives.

evgeny ~ What do you mean by "residue"?

With an older iPhone model such as the iPhone SE 2016, it's worth checking the battery. If it's still the original 5½ year-old battery, the long process of applying an iOS update can strain a weak, aging battery and be the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back". What's the Maximum Capacity % here?...

still nothing worked. went to the service and replaced the battery with a new one. the phone began to work faster and now holds a charge for 3-4 days. the problem appeared immediately after the firmware update, so I thought about the crooked software. but the problem was in the old battery. although the iPhone showed 87% and maximum performance.
