Touch id very slow, or not working

I have this problem on my ipad pro MP6G2LL/A and ios 15.3.1. Only 48gb of 256gb used. I chatted with a support guy, but he only came up with dirty fingers/home button. Total waste of time. It must be a deliberate ‘feature’ to ‘obsolete’ my ipad, cause this has been a problem for many weeks now and should have been fixed quickly in a software update if it was a bug. They did it with iPhone batteries, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they are trying it again.

TouchID difficulties are typically associated with:

  • poor/damaged fingerprint ridge detail - often caused by handling abrasive materials
  • excessively dry skin
  • greasy/oily skin - perhaps through use of moisturising agents

Obviously, hardware faults do occur.

For avoidance of doubt, Apple does not deliberately “obsolete” its hardware via software updates.
