Apple Music: Error occurred while converting the file "song name".

I bought a song,

it has been downloaded in the format: .movpkg

I need it in wav or aiff, I follow the converting procedure, and I always get the "Error occurred while converting the file "song name". An unknown error occurred (-50)."

What is the use of buying a song if I can't have it in the file format I need?

Marco,

Movpkg is a protected format and only comes as part of an Apple Music subscription.

Per your reference to AIFF and WAV, I assume you are trying to buy a download in a lossless format? The iTunes Store does not sell lossless downloads.

You can buy lossless downloads from other retailers such as BandCamp.com, Classical.com, BeatPort.com, and others.

Hi ed2345, I have the same problem. If you purchase a song from the iTunes Store it now becomes a .movpkg file (HLS Media). I want to covert a purchased song to AIFF format, but as @MarcoTeti says, an error code appears. I need to convert the song to AIFF because I want it to play in my dj software, which currently doesn't support the .movpkg format.

I have an Apple Music subscription, but I need to buy tunes if I want to dj with them.

Any help to navigate around this problem would be much appreciated. Cheers.

Hi Okey Dokey,

If I understand you correctly, that is the same issue as Marco, and my suggestions will be the same.

The Movpkg files cannot be converted. If you have selected lossless, it will download that instead of the AAC/256 you probably thought you were buying. (By the way, it is an Apple proprietary format, so in your post you could replace "currently doesn't" with "never will.")

Most DJs find it is less hassle to purchase downloads at a DJ-oriented retailer, such as JunoDownload.com or BeatPort.com.
