iPhone 13 restore stuck

I bought a new 13 Pro iPhone yesterday. I dutifully backed up to my iMac before I went in. At the Apple store, it wanted my work laptop (MacBook), not the iMac. The guy said to just go home and hook it up directly to the iMac (where the backup is) and it would be fine.

I did, it still wanted the log in to my MacBook to run a restore. I finally thought I had it working but after an overnight wait and another login process this morning, it has been "spinning" on the iPhone ID screen for at least two hours now. How do I know if it is backing up or just stuck. I have never had it take so long!

Help please!
