How do I know when Migration Assistant is done on both MacBook Pro’s?

How do I know when Migration Assistant has completed the transfer of files etc from my old Mac to my new one? What will it show on the screens?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.6

It should either show a dialog or reboot. A cable connection is preferred compared to wireless...

If you are stuck you can always force quit...

force quit a shutdown by holding the power button/TouchID for ~6-10 sec.

Force Shut down your Mac Log out, sleep, wake, restart or shut down your Mac

Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support

reboot as normal and see where this leaves you.

The most trouble free way to move to a new machine, is using the Setup Assistant on the initial boot of a brand new machine— you have one shot here. Set up your MacBook Pro - Apple Support

The second best way is use the Migration Assistant.
