Try temporarily disabling all of your antivirus/antispyware/antimalware software.
That adds even one more possibility, your work is blocking the port you need to access to communicate with the Apple servers.
I'm not sure how to turn them off on this computer. It is my work computer and I'm not sure I have access to do that.
