How do I clean lint and sand out of my iPhone charging port?

How do I clean lint and sand out of my iPhone charging port? I'm having difficulty getting chargers to work because the port is quite dirty. When it starts charging if you even breathe on the charging cable the connection stops and it won't charge.

NO. While you can find this recommended on the internet it is the absolute worst thing one should do. Compressed air can actually push the dust and lint further in. In fact, Apple specifically suggests to NOT use compressed air on your iPhone.

To the OP: If you have dust or lint in your charging port, take a plastic or wooden toothpick and gently pry it out.
