Homekit secure video completely broken

The past few months I have been having nothing bit issues with constant notifications from my HomeKit cameras. I have Eufy cameras, one Apple TV as a hub and my HomePod mini on standby. I don't recall what caused the issue around the beginning of the year. It was either adding the HomePod or upgrading to TVos 15. I checked and rechecked my settings. I have notifications to only notify for specific motion and I have activity zones set up and I still get generic motion notifications for cars driving by outside the recoding zone and anything the wind happens to move inside the activity zone. I have removed and re-added, turned off and factory reset, logged out and logged in, tired different Apple TV's as a hub, tried the HomePod mini only as a hub. I have done every combo of every trouble shooting I can do and I still get constant notifications and now this morning one camera stopped recording. I have seen some mentions of the same issues in other forums but there is no certain fix and I've tried it all. What am I missing?

This answer is patently incorrect. With HomeKit Secure Video the logic for detecting people, animals, etc. within an activity zone is entirely contained within the HomePod or mini. This issue is 100% an Apple issue and Apple support has confirmed it’s an Apple issue to multiple people in this thread.

I personally have a ticket open and will be following up with Apple support soon.

I would encourage other people with this issue to mark this thread as helpful and log support tickets themselves.

I prefer the Apple support app but the support line will get you the same help. First I had to speak to a few advisors then it was escalated to a senior advisor. After a few calls a senior advisor guided me how to download diagnostics to my phone and both home hubs. Then we had to recreate my issues in HomeKit and everything was sent to engineers. The whole process took over an hour. After a few weeks I got a call saying I should notice issues start to go away. For the most part the did. I might get two or three incorrect notifications but I’ll take it. It has something to do with the HomePod. If it is the active hub, notifications start coming in like crazy again. Switch it back to the Apple TV and it’s all good.

What the camera detects as relevant motion to notify, is up to the camera system, not HomeKit. HomeKit does the communication, but not the message. Do consult with Eufy about this issue.

I agree that I don’t think it is a “HomePod” device issue…..rather it’s a software bug that Apple needs to fix. My HomePod Mini worked wonderfully well prior to ios15, with hardly any false notifications (activity zones worked great). Now, it doesn’t matter if I have activity zones or specified actions (people, vehicles, animals, etc). I invariably get notifications almost every minute or so. I’ve had to turn off notifications which DEFEATS the purpose of using a video doorbell or camera!!! Frustrating!!!!! C’mon Apple, fix it!!!!!!!!!!!!

That´s not correct. HKSV is taking the analysis and actions, the PIR is only triggering. If a device is supported and certified like the Eufy´s or the Logitech HKSV is accountable. Everything else is only fingerpointing ... that´s why a certification process and compatibility matrix are made for.

I have the exact same issue with a Logitech Circle View doorbell. My HomeKit notifications show incessant recordings outside of my activity area and disregard my settings for only specific activities. It’s constantly making a recording….virtually every minute a new one. This started about 30days ago and hasn’t stopped. I’ve reset the doorbell, home pod many times. I think it’s an OS issue but not sure.

What good is HomeKit for home security when it constantly/incessantly sends notifications that are not people/animals/or vehicles? This feature has not worked since ios15 came out. I have Logitech Circle View “HomeKit Approved” devices. I have to turn “off” notifications because HomeKit sends me a notification almost every minute….for no reason. C’mon Apple!!!!!!!! Fix it!!!!!!

I have the exact same issue with a Logitech Circle View doorbell and two Logitech cameras. I get constant notifications (camera has detected motion) even with an activity zone set up. I only have them set up to notify for people but I'll get them for cars and anything moving way outside the activity zone. Very frustrating because it use to work. I do have the first Home Pod that came out, but don't think that has anything to do with it.
