MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6 on 2015 MacBook Pro

Folks, I don't know what I shall do to be able to download new apps and use my MacBook to its best as it has an old operating system. I feel constrained with variety of apps available to me thus I need advice what I should do. My MacBook Pro is a solid machine. It is 15 inch Retina with 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory and Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB graphics card with 500 GB of HD space with 350 still available. I don't do gaming on it. Use it only for browsing. I am not a techie but would like an advice. I wanted to download an app for backyard design and the options were way too limited because of my systems version of OS.
