Can't select "Tile" option from Desktop and Screen Saver Settings Menu

Hello to all! I was actually wanting to post a remedy for this problem some may continue to have. As stated in previous inquiries to this issue, the problem seems to come from the picture that most are trying to apply as a background to their desktop is too large to activate the tile option. All I did was open the picture file in photoshop and changed the resolution from 72 pixels too half of that which is 32 pixels and the option to tile the image was available to select. If you don't have photoshop, any other application should have an option to reduce the image resolution. I am not sure, but I believe if you open up the photo in Preview, you can export the photo, and in the dialog box where it gives the option slider of least to best , sliding closer to the least option, will reduce the photo's resolution, which should enable the tile option under the desktop background dropdown menu.
