Apple TV app

I have had a subscription to Apple TV for about 4 year and have rarely had a problem watching content. Today I went to the app on my Samsung TV and did a search for a program. It required a subscription to Starz, which offers a week free trial. I selected the offer and proceeded to watch the program. I got a message that says “Video Not Available, There’s a problem loading this video. If this continues, check your internet connection.” So, I tried to start the video a few more times with the same outcome. I tried a couple different shows, same thing. I exited Starz back to the Apple TV app and tried watching a few shows from Apple, same thing.

My internet connection is fine, I had just been watching Netflix no problem. My cell phone has a connection as does my iPad, which I’m on now. I went to the Disccovery+ app and can watch shows there no problem. What’s going on with the Apple TV app? I’m a little frustrated that my Starz subscription through Apple starts today and I can’t access programs!

Any suggestions? I’m logged in with my subscription email account. Everything else I checked is fine. I just can’t seem to watch the Apple TV app.

Something is causing the app to be unable to contact the remote servers.

See if this document has clues that apply to your situation: If you can't watch or stream movies and TV shows in the Apple TV app - Apple Support

“Video not available” may mean no valid reaction from the remote server.

Verify that your router doesn’t block Apple’s servers (or its CDN) through a firewall setting.

Verify that your router doesn’t block ports that Apple services like to use.

Verify that you use a good DNS on your router, like the one from your ISP, which gets updated with all server names that Apple might use.

Verify that your TV has the correct date and time and timezone, as Apple may be more strict about that (TLS) than other content providers.

Else

  1. Check for Tizen OS software updates.
  2. Check for Apple TV app updates, if not set to do so automatically.
  3. Try resetting the Apple TV app.
  4. Try deleting and re-installing the Apple TV app (if possible on your TV; not sure how that works with pre-installed apps).

Thanks so much for your reply and the information. After reading, I felt a little overwhelmed with some of the 'checks' that were required! I'm not completely useless when it comes to this stuff but I'm not so sure about some of the stuff listed!

Luckily, I started watching the show I was interested in on my iPad. A little later I checked my TV and was able to jump right on Apple TV and resume watching no problem. Kinda weird! But worked out great this time!

Thanks again!
