MacBook Air M1, metallic smell from keyboard area

Whenever I open up the lid of my MacBook (regardless of whether it is shut down or not), I smell a strange, metallic, chemical smell for a second or so before it goes away. I am worried that there is something wrong internally that is emitting this smell/gas, which builds up when the lid is closed. I have seen a few other people ask this question online (here is one: Some Plastic metallic kind of smell comin… - Apple Community).

The description in the link above matches what I am experiencing. Anyone know what this could be? Normal electronics smell? Faulty capacitors? My computer is half a year old and this has been an issue from the very start.
