Hi there EDuranMac,
Thanks for your post to Apple Support Communities. It is unusual to see the Home app increase by that much storage, especially after an iOS update. There are a few suggestions we have to see what might be going on.
First, we'd recommend restarting your device, then checking storage again. There is a chance the storage amounts need to calibrate after the update.
Next would be syncing your iPhone to a computer with iTunes installed, or a Mac. Then, double-check how the storage is being reported.
Sync iPhone with your computer
Finally, is there a chance you have an app that is unknowingly storing large files (videos) as it relates to the Home app? For example, a home security camera system that is storing video files on your device, instead of in a cloud service?
We look forward to hearing back from you.
All the best.

Thanks for getting back to us with that question, EDuranMac. It's appreciated.
How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support -- System data should clear up on its own after a while. The rule of thumb is 72 hours afterwards.
Were you able to follow the previous recommendations we offered? If so, has the storage in Home decreased any?
Was there any discrepancy found when you checked your iPhone storage by connecting it with your computer with iTunes installed or Finder (depending on which type of computer you own and the operating system it's currently on)?
All the best.
after update ios 15.4 my storage is consumed 😭😢😢 I have 64gb only and after update it consumed to 23gb which is before 17gb, 6gb more storage is consumed 😭😭😭 please @apple solve this problem I’m a student I have to store my many study pdf or pictures 😭😭
Same for me my phone was broke this way with the last update I went from 30+ GB free storage to a full phone overnight which became unusable. I had to do a hard reset and wipe the phone which caused me to lose multiple files and videos as it wouldn’t let me back up either. Today I wake up with that same problem my photos have gone from taking up a few gb to almost 30gb despite having 2TB of iCloud storage. If I don’t update the phone stops working and I have no choice but to update then if I do update my phone stops working haha ********.

After install 15.4.1, now my system data increased a lot. Any ideas or fix?
Hi SnickZ.
I tried everything above, except that I didn't uninstall the Eufy App that is connected to my Home App. I don't have the Local Storage ON, I only storage footage on Homekit Secure Video. I checked everything, and when I synced to my mac, It shows the same storage space left.
Thanks for your advice.
EDuranMac,
Thank you for those details.
If you tried all of the previously recommended steps and the issue persists.
It may be best to reach out to Apple directly.
You can contact them by going to Get Support.
They will take a closer look and check on available options.
Good Luck!
Yup same here. After updating to iOS 15.4.1 from 15.4 system data went from 7.1 GB to 13GB and restarting overnight has not resolved. Always has on previous updates. Suspect it is a file resolution problem not resolving or misreporting of actual system size. Another IOS bug fix needed?!
So
1) will eventually resolve down as mine was sys 13 to now 12Gb, which is just normal cache reduction range or
2) another IOS update resolve
or
3) driving us into bigger phones lol…..I have an original SE 64 Gb therefore now using half storage and have no plans to replace, works fine for me. Not updating IOS could come to bite down the road too big
So if it’s really a bug fix impacting system storage and cache resolution, they will fix it. Otherwise one could only conclude its to drive users into newer phones and eventual non support of existing. One reason folks head to Samsung or LG products. So…..what say you Apple, fix it or let the market decide?
I bought a brand new iPhone 13 Pro this weekend, updated to iOS version 15.4.1, and now my System Data is taking up a whopping 110GB of my 256GB of storage. So, obviously having an old device has little to do with this issue. Please tell me there is a fix for this or one on the way.
About the only fix for something like this is to make sure you have a backup (preferably archived to a computer) and then erase to factory settings, then restore from the backup. It's about the only way to clear out all sorts of junk that seems to accumulate as "System Data" but isn't cleared by normal iOS cleanup.
I had the same Issue and my phone filled up overnight with "system data" this did not reduce at all as it suggests it will, my solution was back up phone to mac and completely wipe phone, reinstalled from back up and for now it's fine.
Hi EDuranMac,
As previously mentioned, it would be best to connect with Apple Support for additional help and so they can investigate this issue. You can connect with them at Get Support.
Best wishes.
That will not help. I've been in contact with Apple support several times and the only solution I get is to reset the phone completely to factory settings and then install everything again manually without any synchronizing to saved settings. Apple do not acknowledge this as a system issue or bug and therefore will not make an update to fix this. That's the answer I got.
