Since Monterey 12.3 update, Internet Sharing through Ethernet adapter to Windows PC results in Unidentified Network, No internet access.

I have been using a USB-C Ethernet adapter with my MacBook Pro to share internet to my Windows PC to it's Ethernet port. This has worked near flawlessly ever since I started doing this.

I installed the macOS 12.3 update last night and now when I try Internet Sharing it shows up as Unidentified network, No internet access on my Windows PC's Ethernet adapter. Its Wifi adapter works just fine. Internet Sharing is on sharing my connection from Wifi over Ethernet Adapter (en4) which I have always used.

Running ipconfig /renew gives an error message : An error occurred while renewing interface Ethernet : unable to contact your DCHP server. Request has timed out.

I have tried running the other ipconfig and similar commands found on the internet but no luck.

Hello WilliamPyke,

Have you tested this connection with a different device? This can help isolate this issue. Are both computers able to connected to the internet without any issues using the ethernet cable? Do you have other users on the Mac? If so, do experience the same issue? If you don't have a different user on the Mac let's create a test user and see if the issue continues. You can use the following resource to create a test user: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac.

Same issue with 12.3 with Internet sharing, in this case, I go from Ethernet to WiFi and share the WiFi. Sharing will not start, and I was tried unchecking sharing and then shutdown, start up and restart sharing, doesn't do anything. WiFi stays connected to main house WiFi and not share to my office network (via Ethernet).

MacbookAir M1 is my Mac.

I have the same problems. I was using the internet sharing at work from one Mac to all my other apple devices (ipad/iphone/macbook air) and I am not able to connect anymore since the update, which is very annoying. Does anyone have find a solution?

Same here, problem with WIFI sharing after the 12.3 update. I use LAN10/100 connection, it failed to share as WIFI. Tried reboot my Macbook Pro M1 but to no avail.
