iMac i9 10 core: how to upgrade the Ethernet to 10 GB?

2020 or 2017 iMac's they came with an option for 10 GB Ethernet. Was that a firmware upgrade that we can purchase now? I believe it was a $100 when new....

+1, it was a hardware upgrade at the time of purchase and your iMac cannot be upgraded.

It was a hardware option. I doubt it can be retrofitted, someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Assuming your computer has USB-C, your best bet is to add a 10GB dongle.

Thanks for the replies. Any suggestions on the 10GB ethernet adapters? I'm checking amazon but don't see anything yet
