Networkserviceproxy and logd processes taking 100% of the cpu time in the background

As shown in the screenshot, these two processes are running constantly in the background and taking 100% of the CPU time. My MacyBook Pro is 15inch, 2019 version, macOS Monetery 12.2.1.

I am noticing this for the last two weeks (at least). Previously I did not see these two process entries in the activity monitor. If I force exit these two processes, they come back after a couple of seconds. I would like to get rid of them if possible. I would appreciate if you can provide any pointers.

Hi there pinkarton,

If you're seeing some processes you don't recognize in Activity Monitor on your Mac, there are some things we can check to identify them and stop them if necessary.

Did you recently install any third-party security software on your Mac? If so, try uninstalling it to see if that helps. Keeping macOS updated is the best way to ensure your Mac is secure.

The best way to keep your Mac secure is to run the latest software. When new updates are available, macOS sends you a notification — or you can opt in to have updates installed automatically when your Mac is not in use. macOS checks for new updates every day and starts applying them in the background, so it’s easier and faster than ever to always have the latest and safest version.

Learn more here: macOS Security

Next, try getting more information about the processes with the steps here:

- Get information about a process: Select the process, then double-click it or click the Info button  in the Activity Monitor window (or use the Touch Bar).

You'll find this information in this link: View information about Mac processes in Activity Monitor

Let us know what you find.

Cheers!
