Once you download music into your phone is it yours to keep or do they take it all back

You do not purchase the music when you subscribe to Apple Music. Your subscription permits you to play the music as long as the subscription is active. Once you cancel the subscription to Apple Music, then the music will stop playing and will be removed from your iPhone.

If you purchased the songs/albums from the iTunes Store, they are yours to keep.

The answer regarding an Apple Music subscription is absolutely correct. However, I don’t subscribe to Apple Music but instead purchase all my music through the iTunes Store. With this method, I get to keep the music as I “own” it.
