If it is crucially required that communication has taken place, use the postal service with a certified letter. This cannot be delivered without a signature by the recipient, and then that is sent back to you as physical proof of delivery. If the letter cannot be delivered (no signature obtained) you will receive physical notice of that too. Having a signed receipt from the recipient should stand up in the legal trail of evidence.

Q - " My e-mail does not let me ask for a read receipt "
A - That Feature has never been a Native Apple Feature in Apple Mail going back to OS X Tiger version10.4 Released April 29, 2005
One can try and find a " Add-on" extension to be installed into Apple Mail to perform this.
Insert into the body of your email:
"Please acknowledge receipt of this email"
It was not a "bashing", I was only relaying my opinion about email receipts. If there was a way to force a receipt, think how valuable a function that would be to spanners and scam artists.
Just so you know. I would never send a read receipt to any request to do so. It is no one's business if or when I read my email. If I was ever to receive an email from you that forced an automated read receipt to be sent, it would be the last email I ever read from you.
Others may feel the same way or not.
I hate them as well, but in this particular situation the-person is denying the e-mail of a legal issue I sent via e-mail and spoke verbally. I would not due in any other instance and would have no need to e-mail you but thanks for the bashing.
+1
Many thanks. So frustrating as I need read receipts due to a legal action.
Firstly, I am not a Lawyer or an Official of the Legal System.
I would not put too Legal Weight on " Read Receipt " standing up in Legal Issues as Evidence / Proof.
Still, it's up to the other end as to whether return the receipt, which sounds like they certainly would not do, in this instance.
Sorry, ASC is acting up. My response posted twice.
And I am in agreement. Have a great afternoon.
