Search for Texts in Messages

How can I find text messages by date? Is there a way to jump to a certain date in Messages either on a phone or on my Mac? I don't want to search for a certain word or phrase. I just want to see what text conversations I had on a certain date and it takes forever to scroll back more than a year with someone with whom I text frequently. I am in Monterey 12.3 and Messages 14.0.

This answer was posted elsewhere but seems to pull up all my emails and not text messages.

Hello skillet,

After reviewing your post, it seems like you want to search for conversations on your Mac and iPhone. This article explains what search criteria is available. If this is a feature you would like to see in the future you can provide feedback using the second link.

  1. "In the Messages app  on your Mac, click in the search field in the top-left corner of the sidebar.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Choose a category: Select a conversation, photo, location, and more to quickly find a conversation.
    • Enter search criteria: Enter what you’re searching for (such as a word or phrase), then select a suggestion or press Return.
  1. When you select a result, the conversation’s transcript opens at the location of the search result."
