Podcast Plays Everytime I Answer a Phone Call

My iPhone starts the last podcast I was listening to whenever I answer a phone call, or make a phone call, even when the podcast is closed. I have to open the podcast, pull up the episode, and press pause to stop it. It does not matter if I am using the Podcast or Spotify apps. The only way I can get it to stop, is to restart my phone. Then it starts all over again, as soon as I use one of the podcast apps. Can anyone think of anything that I can do or change to prevent this?

It is only syncing 2 of 10 daily shows. I have tried unfollowing and re-following, that didn't help. I have tried changing my settings. That didn't help. I have it set to hid all played episodes, so now I am resorting to going through and opening each show in my library to see if there is a new episode so that I can listen to it. IOS 16: podcast app stuck on “updating library” I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling, rebooting etc. nothing works since I updated to IOS 16.1.1 when I open the app all I get is “updating library”, it’s been nearly 2 days. Any fix for this?
