Dead Battery Won’t Recharge

My MacBook Pro died yesterday because I ran out the battery, unintentionally. I plugged it in to charge it last night and this morning it remains dead as can be. I have carefully checked the cable and used several different outlets. After 10 sec. of pressing and holding down the top right keyboard tab (used for fingerprint ID), the battery icon came on flashing with icon directions below indicating I need to plug my computer into a power source. This has been going on for the last three hours to no avail. Help pls.

Hi Mimiphina,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Getting power to your Mac is important and you've done some great troubleshooting so far. Have you tried a different charger? If not, you can also try resetting the SMC on your Mac, which controls how your device manages power. Check out the links below.
