Is it possible for an iPhone to get hacked through an iCloud email?

I was just wondering quickly if it is possible for an iPhone to get hacked through an iCloud email? Somehow, I got an email from a site that I know nothing about through my iCloud email account. Obviously, I’m not stupid enough to ever give my email to a site, so I am wonder if my phone my have been compromised? I clicked on the email to see what it was, but immediately deleted it. I even wiped it from my trashcan. I did not click on anything on the email.

No, just receiving an email will not hack your phone.

There is nothing inherently dangerous about giving out your email address. If you never give it out, it's pretty useless. The thing that will happen if you use your email on a website is that they tend to send you email, often email you don't really want. A lot of people have a separate email address for commercial transactions so those marketing emails don't clutter up their inboxes. For example, I had a friend whose email address was something like "janedoe@email.com" but for shopping, she had the address "jane.doe.shopping@email.com".

If you get an email that asks for personal information, that's when you need to be very careful. Again, such an email won't hack your phone but it could trick you into giving up information that could compromise your accounts.
