I bought this new a couple of years ago it's for occasional use. I have started to need it now for the alarm to wake me in the morning, however, the battery power doesn't even last that long! Instead, it wakes me hours before I need to be up with the low battery alarm instead. What to do please?
Use an mains power extension lead to "bring" the wall socket outlet nearer to you, or as bobjbkln suggests, buy a powerbank. I recommend one of at least 5,000mAh (five thousand mAh). Better still, one of 10,000mAh (ten thousand mAh).

Connect it to the charger overnight.
Charge it and let it drain several times and see if that fixes it. If not, and you can't plug it in, get a power bank and connect it overnight. On take it to apple to test and replace the battery: iPod Repair - Official Apple Support
Thanks for responding. That would be great if there were a socket nearby... The iPod should surely be able to last the night on a fully charged battery though...
