Universal Control not working Mac OS Monterey 12.3

Hi,

I have a 24 inch M1 Imac and a Late 2018 Macbook Air. They're both updated to Mac OS Monterey 12.3 and I've attempted to use the Universal Control feature however it has been unsuccessful.

Here's what I've tried so far: I've checked the compatibility list and they should work. Both my Macs are signed in with the same Apple ID and are connected to the same WiFi. ICloud, HandOff and two-factor authentication have all been activated. I have checked all the three options on the Universal Control panel. Firewall is also turned off.

Just to note, there are two accounts on my IMac however I usually use the account with the same Apple ID as my Macbook's.

When I tried testing it (by moving the mouse pointer over from my IMac to my Macbook), nothing happened. Am I doing something wrong? I should be grateful if I could have some help.

Thanks,

OnlineCarp

Hi all,

Universal Control is working for me now. I just waited for a few days and I tried it out again.

Solution (may work for you depending on situation):

-> enable two factor authentication on ICloud Account on Mac and make sure ICloud account is signed in on both Macs. Wait until the next day or so.

-> Place the other Mac next to the other (make sure bluetooth on both devices are ON) , and go on Settings -> Display then the "Add Display" box should show up. If the Macs aren't near to each other then the "Add Display" box won't appear.

On the Mac with the keyboard & touchpad (or mouse) you want to use, in System Preferences -> Displays, open up the Add Display men. Do you see a "Link Keyboard and Mouse" section? If so, and if the other Mac shows up there, click on it and then Universal Control should start working.

If the other Mac shows up in the "Mirror or extend to" section of the menu, do NOT click on it there. You won't get Universal Control working that way. Instead you might want to run through the MacRumors troubleshooting guide for Universal Control at:
