Unable to sign out of iCloud

I want to sell my MacBook, and I'm trying to sign out of iCloud, but when i click the sign out button under the overview section, nothing happens and it just jumps to the iCloud tab. I don't know what's going on.

antz1210,

Is Screen Time turned on? You can check by going to the Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Screen Time. If it's turned on, click Turn Off in the upper right corner. If needed, click the Options button in the bottom right corner, then click Turn Off. Once it's off, try signing out of iCloud. If you're still unable to sign out, simply restart your Mac then try again.

Best regards.

Hey antz1210,

Does the Sign Out button appear to be greyed out?

Do you have multiple accounts on your Mac? If so, are you currently logged into the admin account?

Are you able to sign out if you start your Mac in Safe Mode? Here's how to try: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

If that doesn't work, we recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly for a closer look: Contact - Official Apple Support

Cheers!

It’s not greyed out. And when I click it, it just skips to the iCloud section. The only box ticked is photos, I can’t un tick it.

I started in safe mode. There are two accounts. Not sure which is admin. I signed into one, same thing. Signed into the other, and it just set up as if a new MacBook. No iCloud.

I have signed out of iTunes, iMessage and find my Mac. I can’t delete the Mac from the cloud when I log into it on a browser.

can I just go ahead and wipe it and re install? If I do this, will there be problems for the new owner?
