My External CD/DVD RW Devices Won't Work on my M1 Max MBP
I was hoping that the Monterey OS 12.3 upgrade would help my external CD/DVD players/recorders to work on my new MBP w/ M1 Max chip, but it didn't. Why doesn't Apple address this problem on their Monterey OS update since so many of their customers are complaining about it?
One of my external drives is a LACIE "d2 DVD RW 22x with LightScribe", and the other external drive is a simple laser RW CD/DVD that doesn't seem to have a maker's name on it. Both of those devices work on my 2012 MacBook Pro. The latter device will appear on the Disk Utility list, but won't appear on the desktop, and I did put a music CD in it. The LACIE device doesn't show up at all. I've tried everything I can think of, and things that other people have tried, and nothing worked. I bought a Firewire to USB cable for the LACIE device, and an Apple Thunderbolt to USB cable for the other RW CD/DVD device, and they still didn't work.
Is this a way to force me to buy an external Apple Superdrive? And If I bought one, how do I know, I wouldn't be wasting my money, because it doesn't work, either? Why doesn't Apple leave replies to these comments, and solutions to these problems?
