Ghost emails on my iPhone

I recently upgraded from the iPhone 12 to the 13 pro max and since the data transfer I have notifications for unread emails but there is nothing there. For someone who hates notification icons, it’s extremely frustrating and I have done various things to try fix it such as, deleteing mail, logging out and back into my account, checking my emails through gmail on the internet and not through the app and nothing has worked.

any suggestions?
